Selves, part 2.

Concept, choreography, video, performance: Nadya Zeitlin.

I'm again exploring the theme of self destruction, the impact that our own selves have on our behavior, emotional state, motivations.

Most people have dialogues with themselves, and sometimes they're exhausting. The goal of this piece is to show those with most critic and mean personas in their heads that they're not alone. And also, to share a story of such conflict, just one of many.

This is my second experiment with door as a stage partner. And first serious curating experience.

If you have been to our show (thank you!) and have something to say,

please feel free to send any feedback that I can use to improve my possible future projects to nadya.zeitlin(at)gmail.com.

Nadya Zeitlin

Moving artist, researcher and choreographer moved by dance theatre.

I was born in Almaty (Kazakhstan) and started my artistic career there. After studying contemporary dance and dance-theatre from all-over-the-world teachers on festivals and workshops (in Kazakhstan and Russia) I started to perform and create my own works.

Since moving to Atlanta, GA in 2013 I studied from GloATL (and performed in their works), Pinch’n’Ouch Theatre, TanzFarm guests and other Atlanta choreographers and companies.

I was honored to present my choreography under ceilings of
Midtown Players Club, Eyedrum Gallery,
MAD Festival (1st place piece of 24 hrs Dance Competition 2015),

Performance KUNST, Skwhirlhaus 2016,
Decatur Arts Festival 2015, 2016,

Ladyfest 2016,

Go Bar (Athens, GA).

I’m deeply inspired by people’s simple gestures that, I believe, often can express more than a technically perfect dance move.

That’s what Dance-theatre is for me: merging gestures into dance moves to create stories with several layers inside, something that an audience member would feel and take home to think about.

Now I'm exploring ways to combine my experience and vision with other disciplines, embed my works into specific environments.
